What key ingredients are needed to make a Hojicha Banana Milk Latte?

Hojicha Powder: A rich and toasty Japanese roasted green tea powder ideal for crafting flavorful lattes. Since Hojicha Powder requires a minimal amount of water to prepare, it's easy to adjust the strength as desired.

Banana: Be sure to select a ripe banana for a naturally sweet flavor. The riper the banana, the sweeter the Hojicha Banana Milk Latte will be.

Milk: While any milk can be used to make the banana milk, we used oat milk for its creamy consistency and subtle sweetness. The milk is combined with water to thin out the banana milk so that the final drink tastes more like a latte than a smoothie. In a pinch, the banana milk can even be made with only water.

Can you use store-bought banana milk?

We recommend homemade banana milk for its creaminess and natural flavor, but store-bought banana milk can definitely be used for a quick and easy alternative. Simply pour your favorite banana milk over ice, and then top the banana milk with the whisked hojicha.

What equipment is needed to make a Hojicha Banana Milk Latte?

Chasen (bamboo whisk): A chasen is used to whisk the Hojicha Powder with the water for the best results. Alternatively, a teaspoon, hand-held milk frother, or mason jar can be used. The Hojicha Powder can also be added directly into the blender when preparing the banana milk without any prior sifting or whisking.

Blender: A blender is used to prepare the homemade banana milk for an irresistible smooth and creamy texture as well as maximum froth.

  • 2 teaspoons Hojicha Powder
  • 60 ml cold filtered water
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (we used maple syrup)
  • ½ cup milk (we used oat)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup ice


  1. Whisk together 2 teaspoons of Hojicha Powder and 60 ml of cold filtered water. Set aside.
  2. Into a blender, add 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon of sweetener, ½ cup of milk, and ½ cup of water. Blend until smooth.
  3. Into a cup, add ½ cup of ice and the blended banana milk.
  4. Pour the whisked hojicha into the cup.
  5. Stir well and enjoy your Hojicha Banana Milk Latte.
